a story of integrity
" oh please mum! let me buy that new electronic toy which just arrived. it cost $49.oh please!" i pleaded my mum to buy a toy which i desired.
my mother simply shook her head and said,"now celeste, you should just not be wasting your time on such toys,it wastes time, money and it will affect your studies. okay, now be a good girl and go to the market to get some fruits for me and do not stare at me, i mean it, now off you go!"
i went down to the market reluctantly. " how could she do that to me, i am her daughtwer, her flesh and blood. this is unfair!"nevertheless, i grudgingly walked on, finally i reached the market. i ran around picking the fruits which i like, very soon i was paying at the counter.
i then left the market with my mind still on how to get my mum to buy that toy for me when a wallet dropped out from the back pocketof the man in front of me,unnoticed.i stared at the wallet ,it was filled with cash.the devil in me arouused,should i take the wallet to buy my toy?yet again my conscience was bugging me.it was a difficult decision,the image of my friends crowding around me looking in awe was stuck in my head. this was worse than a headache but finally ,i made a decision.
"thanks!you are a very honest girl with great integrity!"the burly man praised as i returned the wallet to him.i beamed at him and felt that i had made the right decision. when i went home, although i could not have the toy, this incident was enough to made my day and what is best?integrity is free of charge but comes with a will of the heart.
